American Idol : Ayla Brown

21-year-old Ayla Brown was among the American Idol contestants in reality  competition’s season 5. The daughter of famous  Republican Senator-elect Scott Phillip Brown, who just won against Martha Coakley, is also a NCAA basketball star.

It was in the year 2006 when Ayla Brown participated in the auditions of American Idol’s season five, carried out in Boston and the same year on 9 March, despite her notable singing ability, the judges eliminated Ayla Brown from the show. She had selected “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” as her audition song.

There were mixed remarks from the judges with regards to her first live performance. For instance, Simon Cowell declared Ayla an ‘Empty’ and ‘Robotic’ performer. Paula Abdul stated Ayla had good singing abilities yet had the element of favoring vocal power over her dynamics. Randy Jackson thought apart from her undistinguished voice, she was a good singer.

However, the final judgment from both Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson enabled Ayla Brown to proceed further and she was among the lucky contestants that made it through the next challenge, the Hollywood rounds. Her song by Christina Aguilera “Reflection,” reflected more potential and she made it to semi-finals of the season five alongside other 23 semi-finalists.

The journey continued and once declared ‘safe,’ the youngster moved into Top 20 and she was awarded yet another week by public poll when they heard her singing “I Want You to Need Me.” She advanced up to Top 16 whereby she performed on “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield.

Finally her dreams of becoming an American Idol were over on March 9; the poll results didn’t favor and she was disqualified!
